So hey, that 1-minute animation I said I'd make 2 years ago? I decided I'd make that for the University of Manchester's Animation '11 competition - about a week before it ended. What followed was a rush to complete something that I managed to submit a minute before the deadline of midnight, April 1. But hey - at least I partook in something. We'll have to wait until May to see where that got me.

"So why isn't it on NewGrounds," you may ask? Meh. I have a lot of "finished" things I've made but it puts me to shame to see them face the general public. I'd much rather give you guys something incredible that I spent months on, but alas, I haven't made anything like that yet.

It'll take a few more months before I even start anything like that, too, since this year I've decided to properly enter the Tournament of Flash Artists (hosted on NG this year). I mean, I tried competing in the last couple of years, but everything I started never got finished, and I never made it past the open round. This year I'm going to use everything at my disposal to finish SOMETHING. And the best thing is that it starts in the middle of the Easter holidays, so I should be able to get cracking right away. Wish me luck.

But I'm back now.
I believe I disappeared at what I like to call the Newgrounds Recession in the spring of 2008; where everything was Awesome and the All-Time Top list mimicked the Best of the Week list. I remember well nearly every good animator bitching about some shit on Newgrounds, with all of them eventually deciding that this would make jackshit of a difference.
Now, however, it seems much of this has subsided. With the culmination of a physical recession, I guess people had something of comparison, and thus discovered that hey! - Newgounds ain't so bad after all. That's sure what happened to me when I started lurking here again in November.

In this hiatus I've very much matured as well. I'm actually so old that the age you see to the left of this post is actually my age (I'm no longer a fugitive!), so I think that can be left alone for the rest of my permanent stay here. It's made me realise how ambitious my thoughts are; perhaps it's my jealousy regarding Internet legends like Andrew Kepple (well into their twenties), and that I wish to achieve what they do right now when I'm barely in my double figures.
Speaking of legends, I see HotDiggedyDemon - my all-time Flash hero - has been very busy up to now with multiple projects nominated for Movie of 2008, and I praise him yet more for that.
But what about me? I do have this animation for a national competition I'm currently making, which should be done by its deadline: May 1st. It's less than a minute long, which is what I should be doing; tiny yet satisfying chunks of animation, lest I dream of making huge animations only which never get done.
And so, nearly a year and one month since my last post here, I say to you; shit happens. But so does shift.

Farewell, friends. I shall be back.

Heh heh, I feel all silly inside. Shorts To Wear Pants To is getting up to a 4.30! That's as good as Aladdin 3150!! It's ridiculous! (Like almost every other collab made... :p)

But, nevertheless, it's worth it. Squeaktoad's parts were just amazing, and the overall feel of it was awesome. What I expect some people to say is that it stole videos from other people - Fun with Appliances, to be specific. Well, let's just say it wasn't very wise for SpaceWalk to submit FwA on its own, when it had been made for the purpose of the collab. :p

Anywho - now that's out of the way, I can get on to my own, original stuff; I think I've got the courage to break from getting success via collabs. My main vision is to get something done for Madness Day - I've got a really good feeling about what I'll probably be doing. I want to start it very soon, but I'll keep it a secret for now.

I've also been asked by a friend to do an animation. It features the times and demise of a cauliflower tree of doom. But more on that later. :)

So... March, March, March. It doesn't spring to mind when thinking about months, but hey - those kinds of things are usually underrated. Watch out for me a bit later - I wanna have a break from animating.

See ya!

Edit - STWPT is getting a better score by the minute. Also, Dinosaurs are Sweet seems to have been deleted. I guess Slodd is kinda wise after all.

...to put it lightly :p

But yeah, it's cool. Hell, my first (co-, but nonetheless still a) submission giving me an award! That's unheard of, lol.

So... here I am. COME GET MEH! Following the release of The One Layer collab, it turns out I'm getting a small pile of visitors visiting this userpage, so I'm gonna spruce it up a bit - I'll make a personal icon and avatar, for instance, but maybe in February.

Well, now that this is done, I've got a lot planned ahead. For the next few weeks I'll be making something for a "Songs to Wear Pants To Collab", which has LOADS of great animators participating, including squeakytoad and R. Wappin. Then again, people like them are going to thrash my chances of getting co-authored, so perhaps that's a bad thing... :p After that, I might try a go at the second Pass-My-Flash - which is cool, because everyone who gets a part in them gets co-authored, because there aren't many of them. The parts have tight deadlines though...

But I guess that's enough for now. Thanks for reading this, if you are, and watch out for me in February. :)
